Eric McRae was found by police on Wednesday around 11:30 a.m. by City of Poughkeepsie police officers who had responded to his home for a welfare check, said Det. Lt. Matt Clark.
When officers arrived on the scene they checked the house at 39 Pembroke Drive and yard along with some of McRae's friends, but could not find him.
A short time later, McRae, was discovered dead in the rear yard of a neighboring house, Clark said.
An autopsy was conducted on Thursday but nothing suspicious was found. The Medical Examiner's Office is awaiting toxicology results before releasing an official cause of death.
